3 Things You Need Before Gratitude Feels Real
Hi my friend,
Give Thanks! Be Grateful! See the Good!
Have you ever been annoyed that these blanket statements that are all easier said than done?
Same.
I've learned that three very important things need to come first before gratitude can be genuinely felt. ↓
Awareness.
Optimism.
Worthiness.
Let me explain myself.
✨ First, we need awareness.
Gratitude begins with presence. We can’t appreciate what we don’t notice. When we slow down enough to truly see—to witness the small moments, the quiet beauty, the ordinary miracles—gratitude naturally begins to bloom. When you focus on the good, the good grows.
✨ Second, we need the hopeful lens of optimism.
Gratitude thrives when we believe that even in the mess or uncertainty, there’s meaning. This is the heart of optimism—not toxic positivity, but a deep trust that light can be found, even here. It's a gentle choice to hold onto hope and to believe there is always a silver lining.
✨ And third, we need to feel worthy.
If we don’t believe we deserve goodness, it’s hard to receive it. True gratitude is rooted in knowing that we are worthy of joy, love, and beauty—not because we’ve earned it, but because we simply exist. When we allow that truth to settle into our bones, gratitude flows freely.
So the next time you’re told to just be grateful, take a breath.
Check in with yourself. Are you present enough to notice the good? Are you holding onto even a thread of hope? Do you believe you’re worthy of receiving what’s already here?
Gratitude isn’t something we force—it’s something that naturally takes root when we nurture the ground beneath it with awareness, optimism, and a sense of worthiness.
And the good news? You can start nurturing those things today.
Gently. One breath at a time. Gratitude will meet you there. 🙏
