The Best Meditation for Anxiety

Hi my friend,

If you are human I'm certain you experience some level of anxiety.

And when that wave of anxiety comes crashing in, how do you tend to respond? 🌊

Do you tend to wish it away?

Do you tend to judge the fact that it's visiting?

Same.

Until I realized one of the best types of meditation that immediately shifts the feelings of anxiety within me ↓

Walking Meditation interrupts the anxious mind.

When we go outside and walk it slows down the anxious mind.

Here's how:

😮‍💨 Stepping into fresh air almost inevitably causes us to take a deep breath.

🫀 As we continue to walk, our breathing rate and heart rate tends to regulate which is often disrupted if we are feeling anxious.

👀 The wide, expansive, open visual awareness created when we walk is way more beneficial than our narrow focus on our phones or a screen.

🧠 Walking lowers the activity in our prefrontal cortex, the part of our brain where we tend to worry and overthink.

😌 When we mindfully walk and take it slow, there is also a decrease in our amygdala (our brains emotional center) which reduces fears, anxieties and stress.

🪄 When we use walking as a form of meditation, we shift into the observing mind and are able to disengage from the ruminating thoughts.

Go outside and take a deep breath

I could go on and on.

Those mental health walks are popular for a reason.

So my friend, this is your simple reminder:

If you want to feel something different. Do something different.

Get up.

Go on a walking meditation.

I know you don't feel like moving from your couch or your bed... but it's time for a change of scenery and to shift your internal state.

You got this.

3...2....1 go outside!

I love you.
